So here we are - back into lockdown. For some of you who are parents with children's birthdays fast approaching - with not many options to celebrate - then this blog post is for you! Here are some ideas on how to celebrate at home; staying safe but having fun!
The key is to do something different. Throw out the routine, and focus on your child creating something for them.
Fill your room with balloons and decorations. This is so easy to do and cheap. Kids love balloons, they can go crazy with them and you can create some amazing picture opportunities. You can also get some really cool balloons that light up and have confetti in them. The balloon arches are so cool and effective too.
Create a breakfast hamper filled with yummy treats like waffles, croissants, Nutella, jams and breakfast bars. Either have a birthday breakfast picnic, or breakfast in bed!
On the back of the breakfast idea, why not put on a snazzy dinner for them. Make them a lovely three course dinner and dress up like a waiter and serve it. Let them have champagne glasses filled with Shloer, add some candles and maybe even a wine cooler! Put a tea towel over your arm and using your best posh accent show 'Sir and Madam' to their seats!
Keep your kids connected and host a Zoom party! Let their friend sing Happy Birthday over the internet to keep those friendship vibes shining.
Crack open those old school board games and turn off the TV and see who can be Monopoly king/queen!
Order a disco ball, dress to impress and put on those tunes and have a crazy hour partying.
Missing the cinema? Create your own pick'n'mix station, get some popcorn in the microwave and watch a movie in total darkness! At least you don't have to sneak in the cheaper treats! We have such a great choice of streaming services with a massive amounts of films on there as well as renting out premium films to watch something new.
Go absolutely theme crazy, transform your living room with decorations to create a new space like a tropical holiday, frozen, army camp, Jurassic Park and even Hogwarts!
Do a family fancy dress.
Make a bowling alley in your front room - there are many 'how-to' videos online - and have a family battle.
Give them a makeover and photo session. You can buy cheap backdrops to hang up to make it extra special.
Order some face paint and follow the YouTube videos to create some awesome faces - its a makeover with a difference!

The key is time. Put the tech down, turn away from distractions and forget about the chores and just have a period of time dedicated to them. These are the things children remember.
Yes I made the cake. Yes I am proud of it!
